Chess Bars

Chess Bars

1 box yellow cake mix
1 stick oleo, softened
2 eggs
1 (8 oz.) box cream cheese, softened
1 box confectioner's sugar

Mix together cake mix and oleo as for pie crust, and pat into a 9-by-13-inch pan. Combine eggs, cream cheese and sugar. Pour over cake mixture and bake for 30 minutes in a 350-degree oven, or until golden brown. Cool and cut into bars.

Variation:

Use same ingredients plus 1 egg in crust. Add 3 eggs to filling on top and bake about 45 minutes at 350 degrees.From the kitchen of Marge Thomas, Lake Tansi VillageChess Cake Butter Bars1 box yellow cake mix4 eggs1 stick butter or margarine, melted1 (16 oz.) box powdered sugar1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheesePreheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together cake mix, 1 egg, melted butter in a bowl. Grease a 9-by-13-inch pan; press mixture into bottom of pan. Mix together 3 eggs, powdered sugar and cream cheese until smooth.
