Scythe Finger Origins

A number of years ago you spent some time attempting to track down the origin of the term 'Scythe Finger' (for index finger) on my behalf, which I was pursuing as part of my doctoral research. I recently received formal notification from Leeds University, UK, that I'd passed my PhD, and wanted to thank you for your help which was very much appreciated. (I never did get to the bottom of the mystery.) I attach a copy of the Acknowledgements from my thesis, in which you feature.
