KYMA Buckhead

KYMA Buckhead
3085 Piedmont Road N.E.
404-262-0702.

The fresh fin fish and royal atmosphere of this lavish Greek restaurant make it one of the best dining experiences in the area, period. And it's certainly the best of the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group. Chef Pano Karatassos, son of the Buckhead Life founder, strikes the right notes of homey authenticity and gourmet finesse with traditional dishes like saganaki — fried, crispy-edged kefalotiri cheese with lemon and fried baby calamari. Olive-oil poached fish and sides of horta (wilted greens in lemon and olive oil) earn the restaurant its rep for gen-u-ine Greekness. Dessert here is as important a course as any other — save room for the loukoumades, a heap of a dozen or more flash-fried doughnuts drizzled with honey, and galaktoboureko, a sublime vanilla custard wrapped in phyllo.

(mmmmmmmmmm saganaki, [drool])
